Volunteers required to help keep this board clean

As with all message boards, the spammers will arrive. They have been joining the board for some months but have now started posting some pretty offensive material.

Colin, Simon Prisk (who is our upstream supplier and who maintains the South West Internet status boards here) and I have been spending time removing these users and their revolting posts. It only takes a few minutes a day and a little computer knowledge (I can provide notes on how to do this).

If you would be prepared to assist by viewing the board occasionally and removing the posts and users this would be most helpful.

Please post here or email me at the usual address if you are prepared to help. This does not require a regular commitment if a few people agree to check and clean it as often as they are able.

Many thanks - if we can get a few more it will spread the load - Colin and I have just got rid of 4 this afternoon and he did some this morning and I did several yesterday.

I will prepare the notes in pdf format and post a link here - probably not till early next week as we are still trying to wrap our heads round this network monitoring software - it makes my brain hurt !

Thanks for all the offers of help. Over the past week I have had to exterminate over 20 invaders from foreign shores.

Thanks to all who offered to help with this. I think (hope) we have implemented a software solution to stop these automated registrations/postings. If this doesn't work we'll be back to the original concept of manual deletions.
